Grade Center Resources

Setting up and maintaining a functional Grade Center in Blackboard can be very challenging. The information on this page is meant to make it a little bit easier. If you ever have doubts about how your Grade Center is working, or if you have any questions about using Grade Center correctly, don’t hesitate to contact your local CCIT team.

Starting Fresh

If you are working with a really messy Grade Center and just want to clean it up and start from the beginning, watch the video to the right. Just be aware that if you already have any student grades recorded in your Grade Center, you should save a copy of them before proceeding.

Design a Grade Center that works

Open the”Setting Up Grade Center” document for step-by-step instructions for setting up your Grade Center in Blackboard.

These instructions are by no means the only method of using Grade Center effectively, but they provide a streamlined method that should work for any course.

Promoting Success with the External Grade Feature

One way to ensure that your students have easy access to their average grade for your course is to use the external grade feature of Grade Center. By setting your Weighted Total column as an “external grade”, students will be able to see this column in a Report Card module that pulls from all of their courses. Watch the video to the right for instructions on using the external grade.
