Encouraging Student Engagement
During Synchronous Meetings
Faculty Focus shares six strategies and ideas to encourage accountability and build in motivation for the entire semester.
You’re not alone! Read about how some instructors are mitigating common synchronous meeting pitfalls: blank screens, lack of participation, attendance, etc.
November D2L Updates Highlights:
- Content Statistics: Course content statistics can display the total number of users, the number of users who visited course content, and the average time users spent viewing content. You can view overall course content statistics as well as specific statistics for individual modules and topics. We’ve added new training about this feature. FYI – the Course content statistics is only accessible in the old content view in the table of contents area.
- Notifications: The default setting for email notifications will be ON for new users. Students can override these default settings by updating their notification preferences. Previously, the default setting for all email notifications was Off, and individual students were required to opt-in to receive announcements and course updates.
- Quiz Preview: Instructors can now view a preview of their quiz. Clicking the new Preview button on the Add/Edit Questions view of the quiz opens a quiz preview attempt in a new tab for a complete view of how the quiz appears to students. A screenshot is available in Preview a Quiz
- Quiz Retake Questions: This feature introduces a new option for Quizzes that allows students to only retake their incorrectly answered questions from previous quiz attempts. Instructors can select this new option in the Assessment tab of a quiz. Additional information and screenshots are available in Allow students to retake incorrect questions.
