Professional Learning Opportunities: Tuesday, August 18
Time: 9:00 - 10:00am
Description: We’re here to support you every step of the way! In this session, you’ll be introduced to essential CCIT resources and guided through the basics of Brightspace, our learning management system. You’ll discover where to find the tools and support needed to set up your courses efficiently and where to turn for help throughout the semester.
Time: 10:15 - 11:15
Description: Every class tells a story, and the best ones aren't just remembered for what was taught, but for how it felt to learn it. This session explores how intentional choices in both content delivery and connection, from a well-timed check-in to a thoughtfully framed lesson, can strengthen the relationships at the heart of every course.
Time: 11:30am - 12:30pm
Description: The first weeks of a course offer an important opportunity to build connection, clarity, and engagement. This session will equip you with practical, research-based strategies and ready-to-use resources that help build belonging, clarify expectations, connect learning to students’ goals, and create a strong foundation for the semester.
Time: 1:00 - 2:00pm
Description: In this session, we will will explore Creator+ tools available directly within Brightspace, including interactive elements, layouts, knowledge checks, and other built-in features designed to enhance your course content. Participants will see practical examples of how these tools can organize information, encourage student interaction, and make course materials more visually engaging and accessible without requiring coding or advanced design skills.
Time: 2:15 - 3:15pm
Description: Learn how to organize engaging lessons using a practical lesson flow and a customizable lesson template. This ready-to-use template provides a consistent framework for planning instruction, organizing Brightspace content, and incorporating active learning strategies. You'll leave with a reusable tool you can adapt to any course to create engaging, well-structured learning experiences that promote student success.
