Reliable, up-to-date technology is an essential component for all distance education courses (hybrid, online synchronous, online asynchronous, and hyflex). In order to maintain quick and efficient online operation, Delaware Tech recommends the minimum technological requirements for your device that are provided below.

Important Note:  Delaware Tech does not support personal devices. The links and information on this page are to help you troubleshoot difficulties you may be having with your personal device. All Delaware Tech Online courses require a reliable connection to the Internet. You are responsible for setting up your own connection to the Internet. If your device does not meet or exceed the minimum requirements listed below, our online educational software may run slowly or not at all on your system.

  • Verify you meet the minimum computer specifications hardware requirements
  • Verify you have the appropriate Web browsers installed
  • Verify you have the software  and hardware necessary to participate in video and web conferencing courses
  • Verify with you instructor if there are any additional technologies necessary to participate in the course

  • PC running Microsoft Windows© Operating System 10 or above
  • Sound Card with speakers
  • Smart Device/Tablet running latest operating system

Internet (Bandwidth)

  • For 1:1 video calling: 600kbps (up/down) for high quality video and 1.2 Mbps (up/down) for HD video
  • For group video calling: 2.6Mbps/1.8Mbps (up/down) for high quality video. For gallery view: 2.0 Mbps (down)

Required Course Software

  • Microsoft Office 2019 or newer/equivalent (including Office 365)
  • Current & updated antivirus and anti spyware application
  • Up-to-date versions of Adobe Reader
  • Up-to-date version of Java
  • Up-to-date version of Zoom client

Additional Hardware

May be required if not built into the device

  • Speakers and a microphone – built-in or USB plug-in or wireless Bluetooth
  • A webcam or HD webcam – built-in or USB plug-in

  • Fire Tablets are not supported at this time
